Reminder: skills training this Saturday!

Posted 04 Feb, 2016 08:22 AM by Ron

This is a reminder for anyone interested in the skills training that I talked about at the January quiz.

It will be at College Church University Avenue, following the NYI council meeting. We are planning on starting at 1:00 and going until about 3:00 or so.

We will be covering such things as jumping technique and challenges/rebuttals.

There will also be a time for coaches to get together and talk about how to build a successful program.

It's a free event, so I hope that you can make it!

tickets for memory verses

Posted 07 Dec, 2015 11:47 AM by Ron

here is the schedule for the memory verse challenge. i did say differernt in november, but i quickly realized how unwieldly it would become to hand out so many tickets! i apologize for that, and i hope  you can find it in your heart to forgive me. ;)
the more memory verses you can say from Ephesians 4-6, the more tickets you can earn. Remember that someone is going to win 50 bucks toward and NYI event of thier choice!

3 memory verses gets you 1 ticket

6 memory verses gets you 2 tickets

9 memory verses gets you 3 tickets

12 memory verses gets you 4 tickets

14 memory verses gets you 5 tickets!

good luck and study up!!

December at Northside!

Posted 05 Dec, 2015 06:45 PM by Ron

Hey everyone!

We're on our way home from St Louis and it was a fantastic time!  Our teams represented us well and we enjoying spending time together.

The quiz this Saturday (Dec 12) is at Chicago Northside.  Registration will begin at 8:30 and right now we plan to be done by 12:30, no lunch being served.  This is a great opportunity to bring along other members of your youth groups and give them an idea of what quizzing is about, and maybe have a fun meal or enjoy some fun in the city.

Registration will be open tonight.  Please do your best to get your registrations in early!  Don't forget this month is our christmas ugly sweater contest-dress up and get a ticket!  In addition, there are additional tickets available for people who know the memory-scott will post a ticket reward update for this later in the week!

Keep talking to your teams about Q-its a really great time!

Remember we need officials and equipment to make our quiz successful-and we're happy to train. Please register or shoot me an email letting me know!

We have had some people express an interest in doing a jump clinic which we feel would really be beneficial for our district.  If this is something your team would like to participate in, please let me know and we may add it to the January quiz, and offer some alternate activities for quizzers who choose not to participate.

Thanks for all you do, especially in this busy Christmas season to really engage students in the word!

Grace and Peace!
Sara

November Quiz at Joliet 1st!

Posted 08 Nov, 2015 04:48 PM by Ron

Hey everyone!!

The quiz is Saturday!  Team registration is open.  We would like everyone to arrive between 8:30-8:45 so we can update rosters and get started right away!  We did not assign anything extra for tickets this month, but we will do ugly sweaters in December!!  We need lots of officials if we are going to continue to do 2 team quizzing and we need to know if you are bringing equipment.   Please sign up on the website if you know you are coming! This quiz will determine the Top 10 who will represent us at the all-star quiz in St. Louis.  I believe that the cost will be similar to last year--around $60.  We do ask that all quizzers ride down/room with the group.  There will be details given to those who make the teams.  To qualify, you must be in 7th grade.  If you make the top 10 and are in 6th grade, you will have the opportunity to go as an alternate-and may be given an opportunity to quiz one or two rounds.  Also, if you are a coach or parent of a student who makes the team and you would like to go and/or coach, please let us know.  We wil be looking for at least one coach.  Housing is first come/first serve, so if you want to go, we will take adults until the rooms are full, after that you will be on your own.  See you Saturday in Joliet!
