This just in!

Finals this year will be a one day event. In the past, we have had finals over a Friday and Saturday, but this year's schedule has allowed us to consolidate everything into just Saturday. 

Many of you may have already made housing arrangements for Friday night. I would advise that you keep those arrangements, as registration will start at 7am on Saturday 19Mar, and we will begin with our opening at 730. 

,Lunch will be out and we hope to be done with all team quizzing and awards by 4:30.
The rest of the day is TBD, but we will still have a complete round robin prelim, as well as a double elimination finals tournament. Our Top 16 quiz will also be held on Saturday.

February 13th at Kankakee First!

Thanks to everyone who came out for skills training!  We want you to grow in your knowledge and skills and we had a great time together! 

Registration is open online.  Please register equipment, officials and teams as soon as possible.  We always can use officials and equipment (as we learned last month!).  Several teams have struggled with keeping students committed to the program this year, and we are looking for your ideas on ways to get students involved. 

Things take a little bit of a twist this month: In place of the registration ($3 per quizzer) we are asking each person to bring 2 non-perishable food items for the Lighthouse food Pantry at Kankakee First.  They are always in need of canned fruit and simple meal items.  In addition to that, the team that brings the MOST items above the registration cost will all get a ticket into the drawing for their donation.  If you church has 2 teams, those teams will actually be competing AGAINST each other for the most items!! 

Since it's the day before Valentines day, we also would love to see folks dressed in their best valentine themed clothing--be creative and have fun! 

Lunch will be served at the church for $5.  THey will be serving all beef hot dogs, chips, 2 cookies and a drink.  This helps us to keep things moving and have a shorter break for lunch.  Please consider supporting the local quiz program and eating at the church.   They will also have the cafe open for snacks, coffee, etc throughout the day (so come early and have breakfast if you want)!  The cafe benefits the food pantry.

We are excited to see you this weekend!  This is our last regular quiz before district finals so lets make it count! 

Reminder: skills training this Saturday!

This is a reminder for anyone interested in the skills training that I talked about at the January quiz.

It will be at College Church University Avenue, following the NYI council meeting. We are planning on starting at 1:00 and going until about 3:00 or so. 

We will be covering such things as jumping technique and challenges/rebuttals. 

There will also be a time for coaches to get together and talk about how to build a successful program. 

It's a free event, so I hope that you can make it!

tickets for memory verses

here is the schedule for the memory verse challenge. i did say differernt in november, but i quickly realized how unwieldly it would become to hand out so many tickets! i apologize for that, and i hope  you can find it in your heart to forgive me. ;)
the more memory verses you can say from Ephesians 4-6, the more tickets you can earn. Remember that someone is going to win 50 bucks toward and NYI event of thier choice!
