Great Job!

Congrats to all the quizzers who represented us at Regional Celebrate Life this weekend.  For those of you who missed the event...

This was the first year we were allowed to take a "B" team to the event.  That means we got to take 10 (we actually took 12 because of a few conflicts) students instead of 5 or 6.  That was really exciting for us, as it keeps more of you quizzing and demonstrating your talent and mastery of God's word for longer!  Anyway,  Our B team took 2nd place in their division (9 teams), and did AWESOME!  They actually were UNDEFEATED in the prelim. rounds--and did a great job as a team.  The members of the B team were: Angie, Sam, Andy P., Paul, Holly, and Jaylene--with Scott coaching them.

Our A team did really well working together in their prelims as well and actually entered the tournament with a record of 7-3--the best record for our district in quite a few years!  We quizzed really well, and ended up 6th overall (out of the 11 districts).  I could say a million great things about the sportsmanship and teamwork I personally saw with the A team demonstrate--encouraging and pushing each other do work harder.  The A team was made up of Emma, Kayleigh, Joe, Alison, Daley and Row.

Joe, Emma and Kayleigh also qualified to participate in the top 16 quiz-off and be on a regional team.  They didn't make it, but each of them received a $500 scholarship for their placement. Overall, i'm super blessed to be able to be a part of a ministry that is excited about Gods word, and im super glad that all the quizzers not only compete, but really understand that this whole thing is about Jesus and not just winning or losing.

I have also updated the menu at the top of the page--Q2010 is gone, with an NYC 2011 informational page replacing it.  NYC is an event that takes place once every 4 years in the nazarene church--JUST FOR YOUTH.  Its for all high school students (most of you will only have one chance to attend) and i can tell you that as a student and as an adult it has impacted my life.  I want to really encourage any student who can to attend this amazing event.  The cost is $990, which is why we're getting the info out there now--you don't want to miss this event.

Last chance, and info: Q2010!

A few words about Q2010 in Ohio.  You can still go, but I need to know you're interested RIGHT AWAY, and I need a $50 deposit to hold your spot no later than April 25th.  We will create another team if we have other people interested, but because we are trying to figure out transportation and coaches, we need to know as soon as possible.

To those who have already made a deposit:  I need the rest of your district payment..which if you signed up in February and paid $30--you only owe $15 more.

For those of you who have paid a deposit and registered---you need to do the following:

If you have paid your district deposit ($50), I have registered the teams for Q 2010. You may now go to http://q2010.nazquizzing.org/ and create an account, and register individuals for the event. If you need to know your team, email me! You also need to download the medical liability forms, and all quizzers and children must have the form notarized.  I need to have these no later than Regional Celebrate life (May 13th) as I have to submit them the following week.

Day one of finals is over, and so far its been fun!  Things have gone pretty smoothly, and something that could have been a tragedy as far as scheduling has been solved double time (thanks Karl!).

I hope everyone is having a good time!
